FAQs

Frequently Asked Questions
Q: Do I need to be working to complete a course?

A: For our longer work-based qualifications you will need to be working in an Early Years’ setting or a school, depending on the course, as a volunteer or employee. Some of our shorter courses do not require you to be working in a setting. Please contact us for more information.

Q: Will I be observed doing my job?

A: For work-based qualifications your assessor will observe you carrying out aspects of your job role and implementing activities/learning opportunities for children. Some of our shorter courses are “knowledge only” and do not require observation of practice.

Q: How often will I be assessed?

A: You will have a planned assessment every 4 – 6 weeks. This could be face-to-face or remote via zoom/teams depending on your targets for that month. You will be able to contact your assessor in between assessments for support and guidance and to send evidence for assessment and feedback.

Q: Are there resources to support the courses?

A: We offer a range of resources to support your learning. These include workbooks, PowerPoints, lists of useful websites, YouTube videos, textbooks and handouts. The range of resources depends on the level and content of the course.

Q: How long do courses take to complete?

A: The length of our courses range between 4 – 24 months, depending on the level and course content. Please contact us for more information.

Q: Are there any exams to sit?

A: There are no exams to sit for any of the courses we offer. To complete the course you will build a portfolio of evidence alongside being observed (if required) and having professional discussions. However, if you are studying for a Level 3 qualification to work in Early Years, you will need English and Maths GCSE Grades A-C/9-4 or Level 2 Functional Skills in these subjects. We can provide information as to how to achieve these.
